 Late?

Technically, you're not late until 4:00 p.m. EDT :)

Hey, does anyone know what's become of Mr. Peanuts? This will be his 2nd week M.I.A. if he doesn't chime in--and he took the gold medal last time he played.

Week 31, Day 1—“Where's the Silver Lining?”

Thought for the day:  “It was not until the Abraham Lincoln administration that an income tax was imposed on Americans.  Its stated purpose was to finance the war, but it took until 1872 for it to be repealed.  During the Grover Cleveland administration, Congress enacted the Income Tax Act of 1894.  The U.S. Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional in 1895.  It took the Sixteenth Amendment (1913) to make permanent what the Framers feared—today’s income tax.”Walter Williams

Thought for the day:  “What we call the market is really a democratic process involving millions, and in some markets billions, of people making personal decisions that express their preferences.  When you hear someone say that he doesn’t trust the market, and wants to replace it with government edicts, he’s really calling for a switch from a democratic process to a totalitarian one.”Walter Williams

 Week 31, Final—“It’s Ray By a Mile”

Ray, our beer-drinking, dart-chucking pal, comes off with a HUGE victory in week 31, beating 2nd-place Colossal Karel by 6.95%!  Buckeye Billy, while taking the bronze with a quarter of one percent gain, has retaken the lead on the year.  The whole gang trails the three major indicies.

On the quarterly chart, Jiesen the Jumping Jerboa logged a nearly symmetrical spike over the last two weeks, with a loss of 11.75% on the heels of an 11.83% gain, leaving the 9K club with 100% vacancy.

Crying in his beer over what could have been, Rob could only watch as his long-time favorite, IMCL, gained 43.51%.  Had he played it this week, his running balance would be 12,174.82.  Thankfully, in the real world Rob is sitting on a pretty good-sized pile of IMCL stock as he awaits a better offer from Bristol-Myers or, even better, a bidding war.

Gracing our 31st week final chart is none other than Cindy Crawford, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful women in the world.  Would you not agree that this is fitting for the best weekly stock-picking contest in the world?  Of course you would!

Can anyone make it to the 9K club next week?  Dare we set our sights on the 10K club at this point?  There's plenty of excitement waiting just around the corner!  Waiting to jump up in your face and send shivers up and down your spine, like having ice-cold water suddenly and unexpectedly dumped down the front of your trousers!

 Rob's Pick

Rob will play AXS at the open this week.  And it better do well, 'cause Rob owns it in real life too.

Risky play with earnings today and the threat of Tropical Storm Edouard churning up to hurricane strength and headed toward the vicinity of Galveston.
